May 19, 2009 - Los Angeles. Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center announces the seventh season of this dance series, which offers powerful and memorable performances by some of America's greatest dance companies. The season opens at the Ahmanson Theatre with the innovative and compelling Pilobolus, October 23-25, 2009, followed by The Joffrey Ballet's dazzling, full-length production of Cinderella at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, January 28-31, 2010.
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago brings its signature brand of modern dance to the Ahmanson Theatre April 9-11, 2010 and Merce Cunningham Dance Company offers visionary work in the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall June 26-29, 2010. The season closes with the return of the celebrated American Ballet Theatre to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion July 15-18, 2010.
Renae Williams Niles, Director of Dance Presentations said, "We are thrilled to feature these five legendary dance companies in our seventh season of dance presentations. Pilobolus kicks our season off with their vivid imagination and physicality. The Joffrey Ballet will enchant our audiences with a lavish production of Sir Frederick Ashton's Cinderella. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago makes their Music Center debut and Merce Cunningham Dance Company makes its debut at Disney Hall. To finish out this season, one of the pillars of our series -- American Ballet Theatre. As we welcome ABT to the Music Center for the eighteenth time, we celebrate the company, which defines ballet not just for us, but for the entire nation."
